Confident Cruising - Saturday September 25th 2010 (10am - 5pm)

A lack of confidence in sexual situations can force you into accepting whatever sex is on offer rather than what you want. The Confident Cruising course is a one day course and is designed to help you improve your cruising skills, whether you're in a bar, a sauna, online or just walking down the street. Confident Cruising is for any gay or bisexual man who wants to sharpen their cruising skills both online and face to face.

The course will help you develop the confidence and skills to negotiate the sex you want, keep to your safer sex rules, and enable you to say no when you want to when cruising or arranging to meet someone. You'll learn some top tips and practical ways that can help improve the chances of getting more of what you want.

You'll look at the advantages and disadvantages of all the different places that gay men cruise, and build your understanding about how to get the best out of every way that you cruise. You'll build a better idea of what you want, and the confidence to approach the men you like. And you'll develop your ability to be honest with yourself about whether you will be successful that time with that guy, or whether to move on or leave. Book now

Drug and Alcohol Use in the LGBT Community

Each year the Sheffield Drug and Alcohol Action Team puts together a report documenting drug and alcohol addiction and treatment outcomes in Sheffield. However, they currently have very little information and evidence about drug taking and alcohol abuse within the LGBT community.

The Sheffield Drug and Alcohol Action Team would like to here from you - you can help them to fill this gap in information by completing their on-line questionnaire at http://bit.ly/aCoBFX

The survey will only take a few minute and all responses are confidential.

For more information, please contact the Sheffield Drug and Alcohol Action Team on 0114 273 6851.

Men Only Testing - Get the Full MOT
The sexual health drop in clinic run by Sheffield Contraception and Sexual Health Service, is open for gay and bisexual men who have sex with men and men exploring their sexuality with other men to have tests and vaccinations and to get advice. The drop in clinic provides a safe and confidential space where men can be tested for sexually transmitted infections and get Hepatitis B vaccinations.
Trained nurses and health promotion staff will be available to offer men advice and information around their sexual health. The clinic will also offer free condoms and lube to all clients.

The clinic opens every Wednesday between 4pm and 6.30pm and can be accessed by men of all ages and backgrounds.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) can affect all men, but are more common amongst those who have lots of different sexual partners and younger men. Often there are no signs or symptoms of an STI, therefore testing for infections on a regular basis is recommended. The tests involve collecting a blood and urine sample and taking a throat and rectal swab, the latter will be done by the men themselves in private. This will test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, HIV and hepatitis B with the results returned the following week.

Men can also access the drop in service at Central Health Clinic during normal opening hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am to 11.30am and 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
